At the beginning of the spring semester, the second half of the 2020—2021 academic year, the "First Lesson Series" theme activities were conducted by Bohai University (BU).

On Mar. 8, 2021, the first day of the new semester, the national flag-raising ceremonies were held respectively and simultaneously on Songshan and Seaside campuses of BU as the very first lesson to usher in the semester. Some leaders, and some teachers & students on the two campuses respectively took part in the ceremonies. Meanwhile, at the ceremonies they also sung in chorus the national anthem and another song praising the People's Republic of China.

After that, two lessons of ideological and political education were respectively delivered by LIU Yang, secretary of BUs CPC Committee, and ZHAO Hui, president of BU. The lessons were about the Communist Party of China, socialism with Chinese characteristics, and the Chinese people's fight against the novel coronavirus pandemic. Finally, the students and their teachers were organized to watch the Party history video before the first academic class began as part of the patriotic education.
